Q&A
Can I use pre-styled wigs? Yes you can, but your overall score may be affected by how much pre-styling there is. For example, a contestant can show good wig knowledge by choosing a suitable base wig for the look they want, like getting a puffy wig to help create spikes. But if the spikes are already there to start with then we can't give you any points for them. That's why we ask for progress photos, so that we can see what you've done.
Can I use wigs bought from shops other than Coscraft? Yes you can. While we would love for you to get all your wigs from us, we do realise we don't have every length and colour possible. It's something we're working on!
I styled a wig a long time ago and sold it to someone else. Can I still use it as my entry? Yes, as long as you have clear photos of you wearing the wig, or the person who you sold it to writes to us to verify that they bought the wig from you. Remember we'll still need progress and finished photos!
What am I supposed to write for "describe how you created the wig"? I haven't got a clue! You can talk about lots of things! How you picked what wig to use, what styling products and tools you'd used, and other techniques such as adding wefts, dyeing, spiking, curling... we want to know all about it!
What do you mean by "an entry must consist of a styled cosplay wig using at least one wig which has wig fibres"? The entry must be made up of at least one wig that's usually used to simulate real hair. So "wigs" made of fabric, cardboard and other things, while they're really cool, can't be entered into the competition.
I don't need to wear a costume in the photos? But this is a cosplay competition isn't it...? Well yes it is, but unlike other online competitions, Wig Masters is all about the wig. While lots of people already have cosplay photos of themselves, not many have pictures focussed on their wigs. This means some people may be making something just for the contest. Some might also want use the contest to motivate themselves to start an elaborate wig. We feel that asking people to also make the rest of costume is just too much! We know that photos on Facebook tend to get passed around, so we'll add the Wig Masters logo onto photos to let everyone know why someone might not be wearing a full costume.
I have questions about the competition not covered here! Send it to us at wigmasters2012 @ coscraft.co.uk!
